Stephanie Fajuri, Esq.
Program Director
Stephanie Fajuri brings her deep understanding of federal and state health insurance to improve the health of older adults and people with disabilities in her role as Program Director for the Center for Health Care Rights. In this capacity, she serves as the Manager of the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) and Staff Attorney
A registered HICAP counselor and community educator, she provides Medicare and Medi-Cal advocacy and counseling on our telephone helpline, conducts community education trainings on related topics, supervises all HICAP counselors, and is responsible for the training of new counselors and coordinating continuing education for existing staff and volunteer counselors. The California Department of Aging regularly calls upon her to help orient new HICAP managers throughout the state. Stephanie also engages in policy advocacy regarding the effects of Medi-Cal rules on Medicare beneficiaries.
Previously Stephanie worked as Director of the Cancer Legal Resource Center at the Disability Rights Legal Center, where she provided legal information, education, and resources to people affected by cancer and supervised staff and volunteers. She was awarded as one of the “40 Under 40 in Cancer” by The Lynx Group, McGivney Global Advisors, Upstream Partners and Swim Across America. She completed the Nonprofit Partnership’s Emerging Leaders program and is an alumna of the Women’s Foundation of California’s Dr. Beatriz María Solís Policy Institute.
Stephanie earned her J.D. at Chicago-Kent College of Law, and her B.A. in History at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. She is a member of the State Bars of California and New York.
