Financial support for the Center for Health Care Rights has been provided by government grants, charitable foundations, and private individuals.

CHCR’s direct service activities are primarily funded by the California Department of Aging Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program (HICAP) and the federal Medicare State Health Insurance Program (SHIP). These grants are administered by the Los Angeles County Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services and the Los Angeles City Department of Aging.

The State Bar of California Legal Services Trust Fund Program provides financial support for the delivery of Medicare legal services to low income Los Angeles County residents.

Charitable foundations that have supported CHCR’s health care direct services and advocacy work include: the California Wellness Foundation, the S. Mark Taper Foundation, the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation, the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation, and the Weingart Foundation.
