Telephone Counseling:

Hours of operation: Monday – Friday 9 am to 5 pm

A CHCR receptionist will take your call and schedule you for a telephone counseling appointment.

Have an urgent health care problem?

Tell the CHCR receptionist that you have an urgent problem and you will be screened for a same day telephone appointment. Examples of emergency cases include a hospital discharge, problems filling prescription drugs, your Medicare coverage has been terminated, you are unable to get services from your Medicare Advantage or Medi-Cal health plan.

In-Person Counseling:

At the Center for Health Care Rights’ Office

In person counseling assistance is available by appointment and on a walk in basis.

  • Call CHCR at 800-824-0780 to schedule an in-person appointment.
  • If you need special accommodations to obtain services, such as a sign language interpreter, contact CHCR’s Intake Coordinator at 800-824-0780 ext. 3002.

Need Telephone counseling in another language?

CHCR’s telephone system has several language voicemail boxes for persons who speak Spanish, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, Armenian, Russian, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. Messages can be left on these voicemails at any time. Persons who call the language voice mail boxes should leave their name, number and a brief description of their problem.

A CHCR staff member will call them back within 3 business days to schedule a telephone appointment with a bilingual CHCR Staff Counselor or using an interpreter.
